Absentee ballots boost voter turnout
Primary elections often do not draw big crowds, and this year, few contested races in Platte County and the threat of the coronavirus, ensured low turnout.
There are approximately 20,107 registered voters in the county, and Platte County Election Commissioner Connie Se bourn estimated 7,200 voted early.
There were no local races on the primary ballot, meaning those races will be decided in the November General Election.
