Area schools do what they can to keep intruders out, students safe

Reading, writing, arithmetic and what to do if an intruder enters the school with a gun. What is taught in schools has changed.

Last week, 17 students were killed in another mass shooting at a school, this one at Parkland, Fla., Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Geographically, it may be a great distance from here, but it doesn’t feel that way.
