Lindsay Corp. marks 50 years of Zimmatic sales

Zimmerer’s vision leads to worldwide corporation

A lot of reminiscing and button-popping pride.

Thursday, Lindsay Corporation celebrated the 50th anniversary of the sale of the first Zimmatic center pivot machine, Nov. 6, 1968.

The company was started by Paul Zimmerer and his sons, Art and Bernie, who were co-owners.

The celebration drew more than 300 current and former employees from Lindsay and Omaha who gathered for a catered meal, laughs and stories about how the company has grown from a dream to a worldwide corporation.

Speakers Benton Visser, plant manager; Tim Hassinger, CEO and chairman of the board of directors; Jason Parker, director of North American sales; Nebraska Lt. Gov. Mike Foley; and Greg Oswald, vice president of global manufacturing, all heaped praise on the company’s humble beginnings, its role in the world today and the employees who made it all possible.
