St. Francis speech season getting under way

The St. Francis speech season has officially begun after weeks of planning, organizing, and preparing since before the Christmas break.

On Jan. 25, the St. Francis speech team travelled to Columbus to compete in the Scotus Central Catholic speech meet. With three new people on the team, this meet was their very first. Out of 15 schools, St. Francis placed ninth with only seven team members competing due to other team members being in Washington, D.C.

“Everyone did really well for the first meet,” said coach Michael McPhillips. “They didn’t have coaches judge the round so I got to watch all my kiddos.”
