Still together

50 years after enlisting together for Vietnam War, Lindsay 10 celebrating making it back

They entered the military together, but most importantly, 50 years later they were together again.

On Jan. 15, 1969, nine fresh-faced boys left for Ft. Lewis, Wash., for basic training in the U.S. Army.

On Jan. 16, 2019, eight of the nine men — a little more grizzled — gathered at Big Red Pub in Lindsay to reminisce about their time in the military.

The nine are Dan Jarecki, Jim Chlopek, Ken Kurtenbach, Dale Gilsdorf, Alvin Korth, Ed Luetkenhaus, Dick Weeder, Norbert Drueppel, Terry Schaecher and Kent Preister. Dale Gilsdorf was ill and unable to attend.
