Veterans Novak, Siebler honored

Memorial dedicated to Platte Center men who gave lives for country

Two Platte Center veterans were given a heroes salute.

During ceremonies on the Fourth of July, a memorial for Private First Class Edward A. Siebler and Spec. Larry Dean “Tuffy” Novak was unveiled at the intersection that bears their names.

Rod Hassebrook, who is building a housing subdivision in Platte Center, named two streets after Siebler and Novak, and the memorial sits on ground at the intersection.

Family and friends gathered at the site to pay their respects to the local men who lost their lives serving the country.
