Kyle and Gabby Lindhorst had just about completed their basement renovation when a water line was hit, causing sewage water to back up into their basement. The basement in the Kyle and Alexandria Wegener home sustained extensive damage because of the sewage that backed up into their home.
Dylan Veik sustained damage to items in his basement, where he is adding a bedroom.
Nick and Laura Wiese’s had their children’s toys ruined as well as furniture, including a couch and other items that were damaged or lost.
Who’s going to pay?
Christmas gifts were ruined and their children’s keepsakes lost, replaced by tens of thousands of dollars in clean-up and restoration bills.
Four Lindsay families had sewage back-up into their homes Dec. 17, 2020, after they said Obrist Construction struck an unmarked water line, causing the sewage to back into their homes. They — at least for now — are stuck with massive bills.
The village insurance company and the insurance company for Obrist Construction have denied the claims, leaving the homeowners to pay for damages they did not cause.
They addressed the Lindsay Village Board of Trustees Feb. 17, during a special meeting.
