Work starts on Veterans Memorial

Dirt work began last week as preparation for the Humphrey Veterans Memorial got under way.

Local volunteers removed the turf from the ground located across from the swimming pool. Mike Korth, adjutant general for Humphrey American Legion Foltz-Zuerlein Post 80, said they had to get the grass removed so Koch Excavating, of Columbus, can haul in dirt and compact it, which will take place in about two weeks.
