The Kellers, owners of Main Street Market in Humphrey, have purchased the Lindsay Cooperative Market, and will take over in May. The deal was announced March 20 during the annual Cooperative Market community meeting. Lindsay Holy Family students celebrated National Ag Day March 19 thanks to Bank of Lindsay, Lindsay Insurance and Elite Realty. Students were treated to breakfast at the bank and insurance office, served by the staff. Sausage, eggs and donuts were served, with the eggs provided by Four Sisters Backyard Farms, located just east and north of Lindsay. Stella (8), Scarlett (6), Eloise (4), and Lydia (15 months) Beller, with supervision from their mother, Summer Beller, have operated since 2021. Democrat photo

The Goldenrod Conference recently released its all conference teams and the St. Francis Flyers and Lady Flyers were well represented. Earning 1st team honors were Nyla Kessler, Isabel Preister and Carson Wessel. Second team honors went to Karly Kessler and Ethan Wieseler. Jayda Krings and Devon Baumgart earned honorable mentioned recognition. Eugene Zimmerer

Eugene Zimmerer, of Columbus, Neb., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2020 at the Wisner Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Saturday, February, 29, 2020, at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation was Friday 4-6 p.m. at St. Isidore Church. There was a vigil service at 6 p.m. Friday. Visitation continued Saturday morning 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial was in the All Saints Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.

Eugene Donald Zimmerer was born April 27,1933 in Columbus, Neb., to John and Elizabeth (Preister) Zimmerer. He grew up in Lindsay, Neb., and attended school in St. Bernard. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from May of 1953 May of 1955. Eugene worked at Lindsay Mtg. for his brother Paul. He then owned and operated E-Z Construction for over 50 years until retiring and moving to Columbus. Eugene was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery and camping. He also loved playing cards, games and going to the horse races.
