The Kellers, owners of Main Street Market in Humphrey, have purchased the Lindsay Cooperative Market, and will take over in May. Lindsay Holy Family students celebrated National Ag Day March 19 thanks to Bank of Lindsay, Lindsay Insurance and Elite Realty. Students were treated to breakfast at the bank and insurance office, served by the staff. Sausage, eggs and donuts were served, with the eggs provided by Four Sisters Backyard Farms, located just east and north of Lindsay. Stella (8), Scarlett (6), Eloise (4), and Lydia (15 months) Beller, with supervision from their mother, Summer Beller, have operated since 2021. Democrat photo

The Goldenrod Conference recently released its all conference teams and the St. Francis Flyers and Lady Flyers were well represented. Norbert Theilen

Norbert Theilen, 95, of Columbus, Neb., died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus, Neb.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 14 miles north, with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m., on Wednesday, at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School, or the family’s choice.

Norbert was born on July 7, 1924, in Creston, Neb., to George and Eugenie (Hellbusch) Theilen. He was baptized, confirmed, and a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Norbert was united in marriage to Fern Ruby Engelbart on April 24, 1946. Norbert and Fern lived on a farm south of Creston until the early 1980s when they moved to Columbus.

Norbert loved his wife of 73 years, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He also enjoyed farming, woodworking, and doing home improvements for others, and had his own business called Theilen Construction.

Norbert is survived by:

Daughter: Phyllis (Cliff) Kapels of Humphrey, Neb.

Son: Glenn (Sharon) Theilen of Creston, Neb.

Son: Rodney (Randee) Theilen of Creston, Neb.
