The Kellers, owners of Main Street Market in Humphrey, have purchased the Lindsay Cooperative Market, and will take over in May. The deal was announced March 20 during the annual Cooperative Market community meeting. Lindsay Holy Family students celebrated National Ag Day March 19 thanks to Bank of Lindsay, Lindsay Insurance and Elite Realty. Students were treated to breakfast at the bank and insurance office, served by the staff. Sausage, eggs and donuts were served, with the eggs provided by Four Sisters Backyard Farms, located just east and north of Lindsay. Stella (8), Scarlett (6), Eloise (4), and Lydia (15 months) Beller, with supervision from their mother, Summer Beller, have operated since 2021. Democrat photo

The Goldenrod Conference recently released its all conference teams and the St. Francis Flyers and Lady Flyers were well represented. Earning 1st team honors were Nyla Kessler, Isabel Preister and Carson Wessel. Second team honors went to Karly Kessler and Ethan Wieseler. Jayda Krings and Devon Baumgart earned honorable mentioned recognition. Robert K. Olmer, 90, of Humphrey, Neb., died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Father Vernon Olmer and Father Patrick McLaughlin con-celebrating the Mass. Interment with military honors will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to those of the family or donor's choice.

Robert “Bob” Killian Olmer was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Humphrey, Neb., to John and Stella (Eisenmenger) Olmer. He was raised on a farm northwest of Humphrey. Bob attended grade school and high school at St. Francis Catholic Schools in Humphrey.

Bob served in the United States Marines from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed in Korea from 1952-1953. On Sept.9, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Dina” Noonan at St. John’s Catholic Church in rural Lindsay, Neb. From this union they had eight children. Bob farmed all of his life east of Humphrey and worked parttime as a plumber when time allowed. He was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the VFW.
