Flyers defense leads way past Giltner

The St. Francis defense turned into offense. The Flyers returned three interceptions for touchdowns Friday on their way to an 86-20 win at Giltner. The defense accounted for three touchdowns in a 46-0 first quarter barrage. Taylor Wemhoff, who opened the scoring with a 42-yard run, picked off a Giltner pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown. Tanner Pfeifer and Trevor Pfeifer each returned interceptions for scores, covering 22 and 32 yards, respectively. In the second quarter special teams got into the action when Justin Leifeld returned a kick off 59 yards for a score, and in the fourth quarter, Haustyn Forney raced 40 yards to the end zone with a punt return. In all, the defense and special teams accounted for five of the 11 touchdowns scored by the Flyers. Spencer Engel and Dustin Olmer were each credited with 10 tackles. The Flyers host Osmond Friday with an early kickoff slated for 4 p.m. in Humphrey.
