St. Francis junior Andrew Kosch, right, shot a 78 and finished as runner up in the Patriot Invite. Freshmen Jacob Keller, left, carded an 86 and earned the 14th place medal. The team shot a 355 which placed them 5th in the 15 team tournament.

Flyers outlast Falls City Sacred Heart 24-16

St. Francis to play Pleasanton for title

On to Lincoln.

St. Francis punched its ticket to the Class D2 championship game Monday after hanging on to defeat Falls City Scared Heart 24-16 here Monday afternoon in a semifinal matchup.

The celebration started for the Flyers as time ran out on the Irish as they tried to line up for one final try to tied the game.

After senior Trevor Pfeifer tackled Jamie Stice on the Flyers’ 13-yard line with 3 seconds left in the game, the Irish couldn’t get lined up to get off another play, and the St. Francis sideline erupted.
