St. Francis junior Andrew Kosch, right, shot a 78 and finished as runner up in the Patriot Invite. Freshmen Jacob Keller, left, carded an 86 and earned the 14th place medal. The team shot a 355 which placed them 5th in the 15 team tournament.

Humphrey High Quiz Bowl team competes at trio of events

On March 3, the quiz bowl team consisting of Xander Kuehler, Kaydie Brandl, Kenny Osten, and Trinity Young and Zane Bertrand competed in the 26th Annual Bellevue University Invitational Quiz Bowl.

The format was a double elimination 32-team tournament. The Bulldogs were very successful in their opening round match with Cornerstone Christian winning the match 175-40. In the second round the team dropped a close match Omaha Gross 90- 95 before being eliminated from play in another close match 110- 115 by Logan-Magnolia, Iowa.

On March 6, the quiz bowl team of Xander Kuehler, Kaydie Brandl, Kenny Osten, Trinity Young, Hunter Gronenthal, Ryder Ganskow and Danie Brandl competed in the ESU7 District Quiz Bowl at Fullerton.

The format for districts is a double elimination tournament with the top two finishers earning a trip to the state quiz bowl competition. Humphrey defeated Palmer in their opening round match 30-25.
