Seven members of the Humphrey- Lindsay speech team traveled to Liberty, Mo., to compete in the National Individual Event Tournament of Champions on May 16-18. In order to qualify for the meet, these seven students earned two bids at meets throughout the regular speech season. Colter Schneider and Cejay Dahlberg, Lia Whited and Kaylee Krings, and Cayley Killham and Madelyn Bystrznski competed in duet acting. Schneider also competed in original oratory, Krings presented her dramatic interpretation, and Natalie Stock gave her informative speech.
Main event competition groupings ranged from 112-213 entries in each event. Competitors came from every state in the U.S., with large contingencies from Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, Missouri and Nebraska. All three Humphrey-Lindsay duet acting groups advanced to the octafinal round of duet. The octafinal rounds were comprised of 60 competitors in each event. Krings and Whited advanced on to the top 24 quarterfinal.
Awards were presented to Schneider, Dahlberg, Bystrznski, Killham, Whited, and Krings on Sunday, May 18, at the awards ceremony.
