At approximately 3 p.m. Friday afternoon a train derailed on the Central Nebraska Railroad line running through Platte Center. The cause is unknown at this time. No one was injured, but clean up stretched into this week. Democrat photos

Central Nebraska Railroad train derails in Platte Center Friday afternoon

Six Central Nebraska Railroad cars carrying corn derailed at about 3 p.m. Friday in Platte Center.

There were no injuries. Railroad workers were on the scene starting Friday afternoon, and were still working Tuesday morning at press time making repairs, cleaning up corn and debris from the track and rail cars, and were trying to have the line operational by later Tuesday.
