Once upon a time if you wanted your opinion heard you wrote to your local newspaper or called into a radio station.
Some took advantage of that, and some still do, but thanks to — or because of — social media everyone can post an opinion within minutes of hearing a story.
That means anyone who wants to criticize, threaten, denigrate or harass someone who has a different opinion than they do, lives a different lifestyle or is famous is up for public scrutiny, and can do so immediately.
