Numbers don’t lie.

There is a widespread incorrect belief newspapers no longer carry the value they once did, when, in fact, the opposite is true. Now, more than ever, newspapers are even more important to communities.

When a town’s local newspaper closes, it can lead to a decline in civic engagement, an increase in misinformation, a loss of government accountability, and economic and social consequences. The resulting void leaves residents with limited access to reliable information about their community and local institutions.
