Just when Archangels looked to grab the momentum, Central Valley took it back and never let go as the Cougars posted a 34-20 win Friday in the Third round of the Class D-2 state playoffs.
Coming out of the halftime locker room trailed 14-6, Gavin Geilenkirchen evened the score at 14-all just 12 seconds into the third quarter on a 50-yard burst to the end zone and two-point run.
After forcing Central Valley to punt, on its first possession of the second half, Ethan Wieseler broke through the line and blocked the Cougars’ Lane Foltz punt, setting up the Defenders at the Central Valley 24.
