The years seem like they’re written on a Magic Slate.

If you’re of a certain age, like I am, you remember the Magic Slate.

It was a piece of stiff cardboard, covered with dark wax paper on one side, and a sheet of translucent plastic film on top of the wax paper. It came with a wood or plastic-like pencil. You wrote or drew, and the wax paper’s dark color showed through the plastic, so you could see what you created. When you wanted to erase you simply lifted up the plastic sheet, and everything was cleared away.
