With plans and possibilities for a new St. Francis Elementary School underway, current students, former students and faculty have many opportunities to dream of the future and also reflect on the past. We currently have seven teachers at both St. Francis and Archangels who spent their elementary years in the current building: Mrs. Rachel (Herchenbach) Jenkinsen, Mrs. Stacie (Baumgart) Kessler, Mrs. Amy (Gilsdorf) Baumgart, Mrs. Julie (Engel) Huettner in the elementary and Mr. Eric Kessler and Mrs. Tina (Boesch) Schumacher at Archangels Catholic. As Dr. Seuss would say, “Oh the stories they could tell.”
Over the past 23 years of my tenure here, students have shared myriad stories with me. A few that have come up repeatedly are the spider corner in the kindergarten room, the way Mrs. Ann Gannon would teach the students to cut with scissors, and the many bat encounters — living and dead.
