Columbus residents have numbers to end townships, but will it?

Will voters in the City of Columbus decide whether townships end?

Maybe, maybe not. A resolution on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot will put the issue in the hands of Platte County voters. They will decide if the township boards will be eliminated and the form of county government changes from supervisors to commissioners.

If the resolution passes it will still take many years before all the changes are completely implemented, however, one change will take place in January 2027.
