HPS board OKs 7% base increase

The Humphrey Public School Board of Education approved a resolution during its July 13 meeting to increase the district’s base growth percentage by up to an additional 7 percent as permitted by law.

The board has done this each year since the law took effect four years ago, but has not always needed to use the added funding.

School districts routinely approve the base growth to preserve future budget authority and safeguard itself against unforeseen financial shortfalls, state aid cuts or sudden enrollment increases.
