The Humphrey Public School Board of Education held preliminary budget talks for the 2026-27 budget during its Aug. 10 meeting.
Superintendent Brice King discussed upcoming maintenance work that must be addressed at some point and how that work fits into the budget.
He said the heat pumps are original to the building and about six years past their life expectancy, which is typically 20 years. To replace the three boilers it would cost approximately $150,000. In addition, there are 36 heat pumps that need to be replaced at a cost of $500,000$600,000 if replaced at one time. They could be replaced in three phases, 12 at a time.
