Lindsay Academy students are being provided with many opportunities to gain college and career readiness skills this year.
The seniors are taking a Work Based Learning class and given the opportunity to participate in Fridays at Northeast Community College. All senior and junior students are also in the process of scheduling college visits to potential choices after graduation and participating in other activities our school hosts to prepare for our futures. These opportunities are preparing students for life both in and out of the classroom. These opportunities allow students to gain experience and knowledge they can use as they continue their education or enter the workforce after graduation.
I am a senior at Lindsay Academy, and this year we have been given the chance to attend Fridays at Northeast. This is an organization within NECC that gives high school students the opportunity to attend a handson class in different career areas they may be interested in. NECC provides different classes and facilities that not all schools are able to provide for their students. While attending this, we get to go to the college for a day, meet with a professor, explore the campus, and participate in hands-on experiences. Students are able to choose from different career areas based on their interests, giving them the chance to explore possible career paths before graduation.
