The Lindsay Academy 202627 school year started off Aug. 14. The students were greeted with donuts and juice when they walked through the doors. Students were introduced to old and new staff members, including our new principal, Mrs. Kylie Hollatz. Our new staff members are Mr. Dan Barton, the strength and conditioning coach, Mrs. Darci Lindgren, the IT director and computer science teacher, and Wyatt Nissan, our Athletic Director. We are so happy to welcome them to Lindsay Academy.
Lindsay Academy is changing things up a bit this school year. Some new changes in the school are our new “Lunch Bunch” program. “Lunch Bunch” helps kids that have struggling grades or missing assignments talk with either Mrs. Hollatz or their teacher to get their work done. They sit together at lunch to discuss how they are getting their grade up and working on overdue assignments. Another new activity the school is doing is our morning prayer and announcements. In the past, students have gone directly to their classrooms in the morning and waited for prayer and announcements on the intercoms. However, this year students are gathering in the commons room right away to say prayer and pledge together. After prayer and pledge, Mrs. Hollatz reads the announcements for the day, such as sports game times and locations, practice locations, or any other school activities. Lindsay Academy also installed a new greenhouse on the west side of the school. The greenhouse was fully built over the summer and is ready to be used when the new shelves are installed. The greenhouse will be shared between some of the agriculture and science classes. The students plan to grow and sell flowers and plants for landscaping purposes, produce, and hanging pots, along with selling potting soil.
Mrs. Kylie Hollatz is the new principal here at Lindsay Academy. Mrs. Hollatz’s position last year was vice principal, and she helped with anything our students needed.
