Ferd Zach went from a farm in rural Humphrey to serving in the Korean War
Like so many young men he was plunked from the farm to a foreign land to serve our country.
Ferd Zach, 94, grew up on a family farm 3 miles southeast of Humphrey, and was drafted in July 1952 by the U.S. Army, and spent basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and just before Christmas he was shipped off to Korea.
