Teaching is a family thing for Bridget McPhillips, a new hire at St. Francis. With 11 people – One parent, five siblings, and four who have married into the family — working in education, she is in good company as she has stepped into the role of kindergarten teacher at St. Francis Elementary School.
The children enjoy having her as a teacher, and she, in turn, enjoys them. “I really love working with the Pre-K/K ages. They have a beautiful outlook on life, they are brutally honest, which I find refreshing and humorous. They are so resilient. I want to be more like them.”
She has a strong Catholic faith, and she referenced Jesus’s words from Matthew 18:3: “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven,” adding “I may have the title of teacher, but (the students) are teaching me the greatest thing.”
