Archangels Catholic High School’s Defenders turned in several strong performances Friday, Sept. 25, at the Tom Dickey Invite at Albion Country Club. With high school runners competing against runners in the same grade for medals, the Defenders overcame misty, 65-degree weather and a wet, slick course to record multiple top finishes and personal bests.
Hosted by Boone Central High School, the meet featured grade-level competition among runners in Class C and D schools with freshmen racing against freshmen, sophomores against sophomores, juniors against juniors and seniors against seniors. Several days of rain left portions of the course slippery, and runners occasionally lost their footing.
In the high school girls race, freshman Brisa Reigle won first place among the freshman girls and placed third among high school girls in the meet with a personal best of 20:23.52. Claire Wegener did not compete.
