Deacon Louis Dohmen was awarded a Heritage Heroes Award by the Nebraska State Historical Society Board of Trustees Saturday evening at a ceremony in Tarnov.
He was nominated for the award by Mary Jane Rosenthal, on behalf of the Tarnov Heritage Museum.
On the nomination form, Rosenthal said, “Louis is very generous with his time, fixing whatever needs fixing even though he is busy with his Deacon duties. Our museum is located in a former Catholic Boarding School built in 1911 and always has something to fix. Louis is also a good promoter of our organization. He gets things set up for our annual breakfast fundraiser. He also plays a big part in organizing our annual parish spaghetti fundraiser.” His dedication, generosity, and thoughtful research have left an indelible mark — not just on the Museum, but on the entire community.”
