The Archangels Catholic Defenders traveled 14 miles east for a match with the Leigh Panthers Sept 29, and came up short, losing 19-25, 22-25, 19-25.
The Defenders struggled a bit from the service line, serving only 80% and racking up 12 service errors on 60 attempts. While aggressive serving is desired and can be an offensive weapon, it can also hurt if those serves end up out of bounds or in the net.
At the attack line, ACHS was much more consistent and powerful, hitting 0.110 with four of the Defender servers maintaining a rate of 0.333 or higher. Scarlett Kessler led the team with eight kills on 23 attempts and no errors. Anisten Johannes added five more kills. The Defenders also averaged 3.0 blocks per set, led by Johannes with seven. Team assists totaled 21 with Tatum Classen dishing 15 and September Babel adding 4 more.
