Bulldogs continue to fight, grow despite loss to Lourdes 48-14

Sometimes wins don’t come on the scoreboard.

Humphrey-Lindsay dropped a 48-14 decision here Friday to Lourdes Central Catholic — yet another ranked team — but head coach Brandon Kirby said the effort was there despite a brutal schedule.

“That’s the last ranked team we’ll play this year,” he said. “We will not see an unranked team until the ninth game of the season, that’s next week (at Omaha Christian). I will argue — and I would like to hear from any other coach in the state who can say that — and we played the No. 1 ranked team three times in four weeks. The first one was Howells-Dodge, then it was Shelby-Rising City, then East Butler, and Oakland-Craig was ranked when we beat them.”
