Nebraska Extension strives to recruit the next generation of agronomy professionals by annually conducting the Nebraska Youth Crop Scouting Competition. On Aug. 2, held at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center, eight teams were able to talk with Extension staff and scout field plots at the Research Center. This competition is a great experience for those wanting to work in many different fields of agriculture. The Twin River/Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family softball team defeated the O’Neill Eagles 11-0 Aug. 10 thanks in part to six runs in the third inning. JLee Van Driel tripled, scoring two runs, Delaney Reeg doubled, scoring one run, Karley Vering doubled, scoring one run, Marcie Spitz doubled, scoring one run, and Mya Ramaekers drew a walk, scoring one run. Spitz earned the win. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Dohmen went 2-for-4 at the plate, and Van Driel led the Titans with two runs batted in. 2023-08-16 12:00 AM
