LETTER TO THE EDITOR

In November we are asked to vote yes or no on a library service contract. Here are some facts about the contract.

The library claims they have been subsidizing the county for years because of County usage. If they were truly subsidizing, more than their share of the cost, wouldn’t you think they would try to end the contract? But no they are always the first to want to negotiate a new contract.

The library uses their own figures to justify their comments. For instance they let people from out of the county, because they work in Columbus, check out material at no cost, but yet count that as out of city check-outs. These people pay no taxes. The same thing happens for a lot of different people who they let qualify for free service, but pay no taxes.
