Is there anything more American than televised gluttony?

The Fourth of July came and went and a bunch of hotdogs were eaten on television.

I can proudly say I have never watched Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, which has become a staple of ESPN.

Watching people stuff their faces with hotdogs has become as much a part of Fourth of July as fireworks and drunk people hurting themselves with fireworks.
