St. Francis junior Andrew Kosch, right, shot a 78 and finished as runner up in the Patriot Invite. Freshmen Jacob Keller, left, carded an 86 and earned the 14th place medal. The team shot a 355 which placed them 5th in the 15 team tournament.

Humphrey FFA brings home awards

On April 3-5, Humphrey FFA chapter members attended the 91st annual Nebraska FFA State Convention held in Lincoln. Over the course of those three days, members had the opportunity to “RISE” in Career Development Events, Leadership Development Events, Convention Sessions, Leadership Workshops, and a career fair.

This year, 29 FFA members qualified and were able to attend the State FFA convention. Seven FFA members were selected to sing in the State FFA Choir. Those individuals were Triniti Gembica, Will Whited, Zane Bertrand, Erin Pfeifer, Kayla Brandl, Alex Schemek and Paxton Bertrand. Erin Pfeifer and Zane Bertrand were chosen as soloists. Two members were selected for the Ag Issues Academy: Mikayla Martensen and Danie Brandl.

There were seven teams that competed in Career Development Events. Only the top 50 percent are awarded a ribbon with Purple being top 90-100 percent Blue being 75-90 percent Red being 60-75 percent, and White being 50-60 percent.
