Pool may be gone, but memories live on

Thoughts, feelings shared on what Humphrey pool meant to them

It wasn’t just a pool, or a baby-sitter — although it certainly was that — it was a landmark and a place that became a second home to those who grew up with the Humphrey swimming pool.

Last week, the pool built in 1961, was demolished. A new fire station will eventually take its place, and a new pool is being proposed to built in Foltz Sports Complex.

Life moves on and things change.

For those who loved the pool most — and added their signature to the ceiling and walls of the bathhouse as shown on Page 1 — saying goodbye is understandable, but not easy.
