Memories of Halloween

October is arguably one of the best months of the year — the leaves are falling, the fall sports seasons are drawing closer to district and state tournaments, the weather isn’t so dang hot, and it has Halloween. Now, we may not all like witches and spiders and spooky scary skeletons, but we haven’t met anyone yet who doesn’t like candy. One of the best things about October is Halloween, that is, unless you are a teenager. As a teen, we are either out of luck when it comes to dressing up and getting candy, or we have to take your younger siblings around town, door to door in search of the one house that gives out full size candy bars. We may be lucky enough to have a sibling who will share with us when we get home, but more often than not, we have to “strongly suggest” they better give us all their Snickers and Reese’s in their bag or else Mom is going to know what happened to her antique vase that mysteriously disappeared. What is the big deal with letting junior high and high school kids celebrate this holiday until they graduate? All we have right now are memories to look back on fondly and share with you.
