Legion honors Engel, Olmer

Two members of Humphrey American Legion Foltz-Zuerlein Post 80 were recognized during the Feb. 15 meeting at the Humphrey Community Center.

Legion members Dan Engel was given a donation to help pay for his medical expenses to help with his cancer battle.

Member Art Olmer was honored for his dedication to the Legion.

Engel said he was humbled by the Legion’s generosity.

“It’s means everything,” he said. “The great support of the community, it just overwhelms you; you just want to give back even more. It’s so express in words. It brightens your spirit.”

Engel has been fighting cancer going on four years. He recently completed radiation treatment, and he is hopeful it takes care of the cancer in the colo-rectal area. He won’t know the results for about three months.
