The America Red Cross held a blood drive May 8 for the Espiritu and Coble families. Deco Espiritu and Riggs Coble, preschoolers at Platte Center Elementary School, have acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Hooked on Humphrey’s fish fry

Before crowds flock to Community Center, host of volunteers make sure there is plenty to eat
They toil away, making sure there is enough food for a crowd they can only estimate.
 
There is fish to fry and bake, of course, and the famous homemade onion rings, and don’t forget the 40 salads.
 
Finally, it’s fish fry Friday, but by the time the crowd starts filing into the Humphrey Community Center, the day is only half over for those who put on the meal.
