Marvin D. Labenz

Funeral service for Marvin D. Labenz, 62, formerly of Humphrey were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, and the Rev. Patrick A. McLaughlin officiated. Interment was in the Parish cemetery. Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, also at the church in Humphrey, and a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday. Marvin passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Norfolk Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 1, 1954, in Norfolk, Marvin was the son of Leo and Irene (Hemmer) Labenz. He attended grade school in Humphey and graduated from Humphrey High School in 1973. Marvin worked for Beller and Backes in Humphrey. He then worked for the Humphrey Coop and then Central Valley Ag in Humphrey for 25 years. Marvin and his brother, Bernie, operated Labenz Mowing in Humphrey. Marvin enjoyed dancing and going to toy shows in Northeast Nebraska. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Survivors include his brothers, Lester (Kay) Labenz of Norfolk, Donald (Janet) Labenz of Schickley, Ronald (Janet) Labenz of Schickley, Tom Labenz of Palmer and Bernard Labenz of Humphrey; a sister, Connie (Doran) Kucera of Humphrey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Irene, and a brother, Richard Labenz. Organist will be Bonnie Schomer, and casketbearers will be Bob Labenz, Tim Labenz, Jimmy Bender, Kenny Labenz, Mark Labenz and Brian Labenz.
