Victor W. Bender, 85, retired Aeronautical engineer, entered eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Victor married the love of his life on Nov. 5, 1955, in Wichita; they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2015. He served as a pilot in the Airforce for several years. He was a member of the Sunflower Wood Working Guild as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Bender; brother, Mark Peter Bender (Darlene); and son-in-law Mark Heaton. He was survived by a daughter, Karen (Rick) Rogers of Wichita; sons Robert (Vicki) Bender of Mesa, Ariz., James (DeAnne) Bender of Moorpark, Calif, Douglas (Connie) Bender of Placentia, Calif., Gregory Bender of Colorado Springs, Colo.;, a sister, Janet (Oen) Swoboda; brothers, Roland (Donna) Bender, Gary (Kris) Bender, Raymond (JoAnn) Bender, Arthur (Jeanne) Bender; grandchildren, Andrew (Chelsea) Heaton, Sean (Samantha) Heaton, David Heaton; great grandchildren, Michael and Margaret Heaton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to; St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, KS 67212 or Gentiva Hospice, 2622 W. Central Ave. Wichita, KS 67203.
