Johnson-Brook too much for Flyers

St. Francis thought it had a momentum changing interception, the referees saw it differently, and in the end Johnson-Brock kept the ball and claimed a 58-44 win in Humphrey Monday in the Class D-2 semi-final.

With the game tied at 28, Taylor Wemhoff appeared to have intercepted a Cole Fossenbarger pass, but the refs said it was shared possession that went to the offense.

In front of the St. Francis sideline, Wemhoff and Ty Hahn, of Johnson-Brock, both initially appeared to have possession of the ball, but Wemhoff came down with the ball at the end of the play out of bounds. Officials ruled that it was a catch for Hahn.

“That would’ve been a big play for us,” HSF head coach Eric Kessler said.

The Eagles capitalized and pulled away in the third quarter.

They went on to score three straight touchdowns and open up a 50-28 lead.
