John Kuehler training for 24-hour race

Twenty-four hours is a day, not a race. Right?

For John Kuehler it’s both.

The son of Francis and Mary Pat Kuehler, of Humphrey, was in town recently training on the track for just such a race.

Originally, from Columbus, Kuehler, 31, and his wife, Jaymie, live in Denver, Colo., where he is a healthcare consultant.

He ran for approximately 8 hours, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in preparation to try out for the United States 24 Hour National Team. If he makes the team, he will compete in France in an international race in October.

Every two years there is an international 24-hour race, where the top six Americans make the team.
