Paul Duesman

Paul Duesman, 89, of Humphrey, Nebraska, died Monday, April 15, 2019, at CHI Health St. Elizabeth, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, and Father Patrick A. McLaughlin celebrated the Mass. Interment was in the parish cemetery with military honors. Visitation was Monday, from 4-7 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus Rosary was at 4 p.m. and a Vigil Service was at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation continued on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be directed to the Humphrey Veterans Memorial or St. Francis Church.

Paul William Duesman was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Victor and Monica (Lubischer) Duesman. Paul graduated from Humphrey St. Francis High School. After attending college at Northeast in Norfolk, and Creighton in Omaha, Paul entered the United States Army during the Korean War, serving from March 15, 1951, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 28, 1953. He then attended St. Louis School of Mortuary Science and after graduation, returned to Humphrey to begin working with his father and uncle in the furniture store and funeral home. On June 21, 1958, Paul was united in marriage to Joan Marie Torczon at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Tarnov, Neb.
