St. Francis junior Andrew Kosch, right, shot a 78 and finished as runner up in the Patriot Invite. Freshmen Jacob Keller, left, carded an 86 and earned the 14th place medal. The team shot a 355 which placed them 5th in the 15 team tournament.

Flyers whip pair of opponents

The St. Francis girls opened up the 2019-20 season by holding a pair of opponents to a combined 25 points. The Flyers whipped Palmer 76-15 Dec. 6, and topped Heartland Lutheran 66-10 Dec. 7. Against Palmer, St. Francis jumped out to a 24-4 lead after the first quarter and coasted to the win. The advantage grew to 45-13 at the half, and the Flyers outscored Palmer 31-2 in the second half, including pitching a shut out in the fourth quarter. Nebraska recruit junior Allison Weidner led the effort with 16 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and five steals. Alissa Kosch scored 12 points. As a team, the Flyers recorded 25 steals.
