Merry Christmas.
As I write this column I am seated in front of the television watching a new version of an old tale, “A Christmas Carol.”
We all know the story. Ebenezer Scrooge, who has little use for Christmas and even less use for humanity, is visited by four ghosts, one of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.
The theme is a familiar one. A man becomes so consumed by his own wants and needs he forgets what is really important.
