St. Francis junior Andrew Kosch, right, shot a 78 and finished as runner up in the Patriot Invite. Freshmen Jacob Keller, left, carded an 86 and earned the 14th place medal. The team shot a 355 which placed them 5th in the 15 team tournament.

St. Francis speech team has plenty to say

Three speech tournaments in six days. Two first place finishes as a team. One conference championship.

All of the long hours of researching scripts, writing speeches, memorization, and practice are starting to pay off for Coach Michael McPhillips and his 11 speech-aletes

On Friday, February 14, the team competed at Lindsay Holy Family and placed first overall. Those who placed individually were Emma Labenz - 1st in Extemporaneous & 2nd in Informative; Elly Masteller - 1st in Humorous Prose; Sam McPhillips - 5th in Humorous Prose; Adam Keller - 5th in Serious Prose; Erin Pfeifer - 1st in Entertainment; Makenna Wietfeld - 6th in Persuasive; and the small group of Sam McPhillips, Erin Pfeifer, Josie Zach, & Elly Masteller - 2nd in Oral Interpretation of Drama.
