A day to honor area veterans

Memorial Day from a distance doesn’t dampen spirit of the day

Rep. Jeff Fortenberry gave high praise to Humphrey’s Veterans Park during a soggy visit Friday.

“Extraordinary. I love Humphrey, Neb., and I love what Humphrey stands for, and this is exactly what it stands for, the idea of honoring those who have sacrificed above and beyond, the community pulling together, getting past the problems of fundraising, but not saying when or if, but how are we going to do it,”

He said this Memorial Day, with the coronavirus piercing through the world, he hopes it takes on an added meaning.
