Alvin William "Bones" Bender

Alvin William Bender, known to family and friends as “Bones” passed from this life to eternal rest on Sept. 14, 2020.

Services were held Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at Holy Family Church in Lindsay, Neb., with Father Eric Olsen officiating. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. Burial was at Holy Family Cemetery in Lindsay, Neb.

Alvin was born on June 18, 1926, to John A. and Elsie (Coldwell) Bender. He was one of five children and lived on the family farm near Cornlea, Neb., for 84 of his 94 years. Alvin graduated from Humphrey High School in 1945 and went on to serve in the United States Army 6th Division, 80th Field Artillery Battalion Supply from 1945 to 1947, training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. When he returned from service, he courted Celine “Boots” Beller. They were married on May 17, 1949, at Holy Family Church in Lindsay, Neb.
